Email startup that helps companies stay out of spam folder spins out of Rackspace in $50M deal

A technology startup that was acquired by Rackspace Hosting Inc. in 2012 has spun out of the company in a deal worth $50 million.
Mailgun Technologies Inc. built a series of application program interfaces, or APIs, that enable emails to be sent on-demand using proper internet protocols in an effort to escape death by spam folder capture. Its tool are used by software developers to automate large volumes of emails to customers using cloud servers.
