‘Bathroom bill’ advances virtually unopposed, heads to Texas Senate

Senate Bill 6, championed by supporters as the Texas Privacy Act and derided by critics as the "bathroom bill," advanced early Wednesday morning out of the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee.
The 7-1 vote, after 13 hours of testimony, means the bill will next be heard by the full upper chamber of the legislature, where it is likely to go to a vote, the Texas Tribune reports.
SB 6 would require Texans to use the bathroom that corresponds to the gender on their birth certificate in government buildings…
