Austin appears to now have more ridesharing drivers than it did when industry titans Uber Technologies Inc. and Lyft Inc. operated in the city.
As of Feb. 1, 11,968 people had completed fingerprint-based criminal background checks required to drive for a ridesharing company in Austin, according to a memo from the Austin Transportation Department issued Wednesday.
