Austin still sets pace in Texas for unemployment, but labor force growing faster than jobs

Austin’s unemployment rate remains one of the best in the state, tied for second lowest with College Station. But the rapid growth of the labor force continues to outpace job creation.
The metro’s unadjusted jobless rate was 3.6 percent in March, according to the latest jobs report from the Texas Workforce Commission. That’s down slightly from 3.7 percent in February, but up from 3.1 percent in March 2016.
