U.S. rig count reaches 1,000 for first time in two-plus years

Signs of recovery continue in the oil patch as a new report from Platts RigData shows that the U.S. rig count has reached four digits for the first time since April 10, 2015.
Platts RigData, a Fort Worth-based unit of S&P Global Platts that monitors the movements and locations of oil and natural gas drilling rigs, reported that the United States gained five rigs over the past week for a total of 1,001 active rigs in field. Of those rigs, 56 are still waiting to spud while another 365 changed locations…
