Suburban voters divided over big spending for schools

Local elections on Saturday brought different fortunes for school districts to the north and south of Austin.
In Round Rock, voters defeated a trio of school bond propositions worth $572 million to fund construction of a host of facilities, including a new high school.
The three propositions were:
• Proposition 1, for $381.6 million to build a sixth high school in Round Rock ISD and a 35th elementary school, lost with 52 percent against;
