Gov. Abbott recalls Texas Legislature for special session; ‘Bathroom bill’ could be on agenda

Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday called a special session of the Texas Legislature to tackle more than a dozen wide-ranging items — but only if they can first agree on new bills to keep some state agencies afloat.
Lawmakers, who ended the regular session on May 29, will be called back to work on July 18.
The first order of business, Abbott said at a press conference, is to pass a "sunset" bill that will prevent certain state agencies from closing down. If that bill is passed, then he said lawmakers…
