Austinites’ income growth leads Texas — but fast-rising rent takes a toll

Between 2010 and 2015, Austin’s real per capita income grew 17 percent, the best in Texas and the sixth-largest gain among the 50 biggest U.S. metros, according to national wage data crunched by the Austin Chamber of Commerce. The bright picture dims, however, when the area’s fast-rising rents are factored in.
