Activist investor that pushed for change at Whole Foods nets $300M in 3 months from investment

Jana Partners LLC has walked away from its three-month Whole Foods Market Inc. investment with the Austin-based grocery chain on a radically different path — plus about $300 million in profit.
The activist hedge fund paid $794.5 million for a more than 8 percent stake in Whole Foods (Nasdaq: WFM). It sold them over the past couple of months for a combined $1.09 billion, according to a Wednesday securities filing.
