New chip fuels revenue surge at AMD

In the first full quarter since the release of its heralded Ryzen chips, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. grew revenue 19 percent from the same period a year prior.
Sales totaled $1.22 billion for the three months ended July 1, according to financial results released Tuesday afternoon. That beat analysts’ expectations of $1.16 billion and was up from $1.03 billion in the second quarter of 2016.
