Viewpoint: Auto dealer regulations unfair to Tesla, other big players — and it’s not changing

During the legislative session that ended in May, Rep. Jason Isaac filed a bill to allow consumers to purchase new cars directly from manufacturers. Not surprisingly, it was fiercely opposed by franchised auto dealers. Also, not surprisingly, the rules aren’t changing. Isaac said that’s too bad for Texas, because Tesla, diesel engine maker Cummins and even Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway want changes.
