Austin architect extraordinaire dies after battling leukemia

Dick Clark, one of Austin’s most beloved architects and a mentor to many of the city’s most successful designers, died Aug. 7 from complications of leukemia. He was 72.
Clark’s contemporary designs have held a prominent place in Austin’s culture. He’s been the creative genius behind many restaurants, stores and contemporary homes.
One of Clark’s most recent designs is the South Congress Hotel, which has been lauded in national publications for its iconic Austin vibe.
