Google vows to appeal record $2.7B fine over shopping comparison feature

European regulators Tuesday handed down the single biggest fine in Commission history, telling Google Inc. to pay $2.7 billion for abusing its shopping feature, which regulators say hurt retailers and consumers. Google shares opened lowered on the news, and are down roughly 2.8 percent so far this week.
Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) has 90 days to close the feature in Europe, or face additional penalties. The company says it “respectfully” disagrees with the decision, and plans to appeal.

Under Armour names new president; Plank to stay on as CEO

Under Armour Inc. founder Kevin Plank will step back from his role as president of the company, the sportswear maker announced Tuesday morning, while staying on as CEO and chairman.
Patrik Frisk, 54, will become the company’s new president and chief operating officer on July 10.
Frisk was previously the CEO of Aldo Group, a footwear and accessories retail chain. He joins Under Armour as it continues to make a push to grow its footwear business.

Amazon will have billions in cash left over after writing Whole Foods check

Amazon.com Inc. would have about $7.8 billion left in its war chest after subtracting the $13.7 billion needed to buy Whole Foods Market Inc.
That’s according to Amazon’s reported first-quarter cash and equivalents. Amazon’s cash on hand hasn’t dipped that low since the third quarter of 2014, when the company reported $6.9 billion on hand.
Considering the Seattle e-commerce company spent only $103 million on acquisitions last year and hasn’t spent more than $900 million a year since it bought Zappos.com…

Yeti attacks 3 more competitors in court for ‘confusingly similar’ products

Yeti Coolers LLC is trying to freeze out more competitors that it accuses of copying its design.
The Austin-based maker of coolers and drink containers has sued three more companies over "confusingly similar" tumblers, which are large, insulated cups: RELYMedia of Minnesota and CreekFire and Nine Line Apparel of Georgia.
