Ideal Power shares gain in trading debut

Photovoltaic inverter developer Ideal Power Inc.’s initial public offering posted a strong showing Friday. Shares of the Spicewood-based company surged 7 percent from its $5 listing price to close at $5.35. Pro tennis team moves from California to Austin

A California professional tennis team in the Mylan World TeamTennis league will relocate to Austin for the 2014 season, led by star player Andy Roddick, an Austin resident. Texas adds 14,500 construction jobs in past year

October brought a good-news/bad-news scenario to the state’s construction sector. Construction firms in Texas added 14,500 employees to their payrolls between October 2012 and October 2013, according to the latest employment analysis by Arlington, Va.-based Associated General Contractors of America. Austin jobless rate moves lower in October

Unemployment in the Austin area fell again, dropping to 5.1 percent in October. That’s down from a 5.3 percent unemployment rate in September, a month when employment data release was delayed due to the federal government shutdown. Goldwasser principals split; founder says he starting over
